Good Morning! The roulette of fantasy football injuries is nearly through with Week 10’s verdict. How did you fare? Based on this list, some people are going to come away rather frightened heading into the latter portions of the fantasy season. I go through each injury, the possible replacements and give you a vibe on their fantasy value.
QBs: Baker Mayfield, Ben Roethlisberger, Colt McCoy
RBs: Aaron Jones, Jermar Jefferson, JaMycal Hasty, Alec Ingold, Jalen Richard
WRs: Ceedee Lamb, Robert Woods, Anthony Schwartz, Ben Skowronek
TEs: Dallas Goedert, Ricky Seals-Jones, Hayden Hurst
Arizona Cardinals: Colt McCoy (QB) - Due to a game time decision, the Cards had to go with McCoy over Murray in the Week 10 game against the Panthers yesterday. Murray is still working back from an ankle injury. During the contest, McCoy suffered a chest injury and had to leave the game. Chris Streveler came into action and totaled 40 yards and went 6/9 through the air. He’s a former CFL champion with nothing to say for his NFL resume.
Atlanta Falcons: Hayden Hurst (TE) - The veteran tight end was injured at some point during the game against the Cowboys on Sunday. He suffered an ankle injury and did not appear on the stat sheet for a single target. With the injury to Lee Smith as well, primarily a depth blocking tight end, Parker Hesse was the backup to Kyle Pitts. Hesse was not utilized in the offense.
Cleveland Browns: Baker Mayfield (QB)/Anthony Schwartz (WR) - During their blowout loss to the Patriots, both Baker and Schwartz went down with injuries. Mayfield had a knee issue that ended up being minor in the end after some testing, and Schwartz left with a concussion. Case Keenum came in at signal caller and did not succeed in the miraculous comeback bid, throwing for 81 yards. Given the injuries to Mayfield this season, I wouldn’t be shocked if he missed this upcoming week against Detroit. Rashard Higgins will be given more looks as WR3 if Schwartz misses time, the veteran wideout was targeted once yesterday.
Dallas Cowboys: Ceedee Lamb (WR) - I would approach this injury situation lightly given the state of the game at the time he left. Lamb suffered a “bruised arm” and did not return to action, a game in which Dallas won in a massive way. Lamb had two touchdowns prior to his exit. If this injury is serious, Michael Gallup will become WR2 opposite Amari Cooper. Gallup has seven receptions in about six quarters of work this season due to injuries.
Detroit Lions: Jermar Jefferson (RB) - The rookie running back suffered an ankle injury early on in the game against the Steelers on Sunday, setting up a very busy day for D’Andre Swift. However, prior to that occurring, he would score a rushing touchdown and accumulate 41 yards on three carries. In two games of his young career, Jefferson has 70 total yards on nine touches with two going for scores. Godwin Igwebuike is RB3 and he also found his way to the end zone yesterday, totaling 114 yards on eight touches with one touchdown. Mind you, these backups are only participating in the game because Jamaal Williams is out with a thigh injury. Once Williams returns, the team may have to adjust how they approach the RB position on game day.
Green Bay Packers: Aaron Jones (RB) - Maybe the biggest injury of the weekend, Jones leg got caught in a pile. It seems it may be serious after initial testing on the sideline. AJ Dillon is the backup, and he would score twice yesterday and total 128 yards on 23 touches. Dillon is on pace for 1050 total yards this season, and that is with Jones as the lead back. Patrick Taylor will be RB2 going forward, the rookie has two carries for 7 yards in his NFL career.
Los Angeles Rams: Robert Woods (WR)/Ben Skowronek (WR) - The pair of wideouts have varying severities when it comes to their leg injuries this week. Woods suffered a torn ACL this past weekend and in a fashion that caught many by surprise. Skowronek is a depth wideout who would play WR3 this week behind Kupp and Jefferson if it wasn’t for his thigh injury. If he cannot play, this may force Odell Beckham Jr to go out as WR3 with little knowledge of the playbook. JJ Koski is the player to watch though. He’s been around the team and knows the playbook. He's only played special teams, but it may be a now or never moment for him.
Las Vegas Raiders: Alec Ingold (RB)/Jalen Richard (RB) - Normally I wouldn’t dig so deep into a roster to mention injuries, but the Raiders have a way of incorporating all of their backs into the offense on a weekly basis. Ingold suffered a leg injury and left the game in what looked like an emotional state. Richard suffered a rib injury and likely won’t miss the season like Ingold. This will cause Peyton Barber to rejoin the gameday lineup behind Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake. Earlier in the year Barber was thrust into action as the starter, putting up 142 total yards on 26 touches with a touchdown in Week 3.
Philadelphia Eagles: Dallas Goedert (TE) - The Eagles tight end corps will be tested following a concussion suffered by Goedert midway through the contest against the Broncos on Sunday. He is a top 10 tight end in the league and dealing Zack Ertz earlier in the year may come back to haunt them now. Jack Stoll is a rookie who will be the TE1 if Dallas cannot play in Week 11. Stoll and his new backup Tyree Jackson have a combined three receptions, all by Stoll.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger (QB) - The veteran quarterback was placed into COVID protocol on Saturday, pushing Mason Rudolph into the starting role on short notice. This isn’t the first time the backup has had to play for Big Ben, making his 10th career start. Going into the contest Rudolph was 5-4 in his opportunities. He would total 278 yards and go 30/50 through the air in a tie with the winless Lions.
San Francisco 49ers: JaMycal Hasty (RB) - The depth back was ruled out on Sunday for tonight’s game against the Rams with an ankle injury. He has struggled to get on the practice field all week, giving way to Jeff Wilson for his return to the lineup. Wilson put up a 950 total yard pace last season, including a 14-touchdown pace.
Washington Football Team: Ricky Seals-Jones (TE) - In what probably was his last look at the TE1 role for the short term, RJS put up three catches for 30 yards prior to his exit. He suffered a hip injury and had to give way to John Bates for the remainder of the contest. Logan Thomas is expected to return this upcoming week, nearly returning for Week 10.
