Good Morning! The fantasy hockey injury report covers 7 players today, their replacements and how to view each situation from a fantasy perspective. Some of these players are injured, and some were simply placed into protocol. Either way they are replaced by somebody!
Forwards: Nikolaj Ehlers, Christian Dvorak, Connor Brown, Mason Marchment, Mackenzie Entwistle, Dylan Gambrell, Nic Dowd
Chicago Blackhawks: Mackenzie Entwistle (C/R) - Absent from practice on Monday, Entwistle was tending to an ankle injury. It’s unclear when he suffered it, because his minutes allotment is all over the place as a bottom six forward on this squad. Henrik Borgstrom is being placed on L3 with Khaira/Strome for the moment. Borg has two points through 6 games this season.
Florida Panthers: Mason Marchment (L/R) - Midway through the contest against the Rangers on Monday night, Marchment suffered an upper body injury. He would leave the game after hitting the boards and not return to action, able to get to the locker room on his own. Ryan Lomberg is the extra forward on the club, likely slotting into the bottom line with Luostarinen and Hornqvist. Lomberg is a physical and gritty forward, seldom putting up points.
Montreal Canadiens: Christian Dvorak (C/L) - After playing over 21 minutes of action over the weekend against the Golden Knights, Dvorak is likely not going to play in tonight’s tilt against the Kings. He must have suffered an injury in practice at some point along the way, but the specifics are unknown. I imagine Adam Brooks will end up playing as C3 between Armia and Lehkonen. Brooks has no points in three NHL contests this season. The team could go with a 3/2 look to the first power play unit, moving Jeff Petry to the point with Chris Wideman. Otherwise, Gallagher or Evans will take the role left by Dvorak’s absence.
Ottawa Senators: Connor Brown (R)/Dylan Gambrell (C) - The breakout of COVID continues in the Senators locker room as two more players are placed into protocol. They are going to try to play against Boston tonight. Egor Sokolov will be making his NHL debut on L2 with Formenton/Paul, taking the place of Brown. Sokolov has 31 points in 44 AHL contests, still only 21 years old. I’d also go as far to say Sokolov may play on PP2 as well. Scott Sabourin, a physical player that isn’t known for scoring, was recalled to play in the bottom six.
Washington Capitals: Nic Dowd (C) - The veteran center was injured in a non-contact situation skating up the ice on Monday. It seemed odd when it occurred and he needed help to get on the bench, crouching. Hendrix Lapierre will likely slot into C3 between Hagelin and Hathaway. Lapierre is only 19 years old and has one goal through 6 games.
Winnipeg Jets: Nikolaj Ehlers (L/R) - The injuries are mounting in the top half of the lineup for the Jets as Ehlers left practice yesterday with an issue. He joins Scheifele and Stastny on the mend with a chance of not playing tonight against the Blues. They are already set up in an 11/7 look, and that is without factoring in these injuries. Maybe we look at a top six of: Connor/Dubois/Svechnikov , Lowry/Copp/Wheeler. Vesalainen and Nash can mix in with Harkins and Toninato. I won’t pretend to be able to really break down this situation more than this. There are issues here. Where is Cole Perfetti?
